Some parts of the web want to buy out other companies and sites in order to reach more Americans. The problem with this is that some people wouldn't be able to afford internet access, and therefore would be using dial up or slow broadband. These people who can't afford it, would be the people to oppose the expansion of bigger companies, seeing as they would be left out. It would seem to be unfair, but then again not, because you're paying for what you get, but in the end, we should all be paying for the same internet access. There is so much to do on the internet, so preserving what we already have is key to future stability.
People who are for the internet, and saving it, are those in Washington, D.C. The internet is a privelage, but over the years, its expansion has led to more informative sites, and information. The internet seems to be a personal freedom, as well, because we can look up whatever we'd like in order to satisfy our needs. As seen below, President Obama tells of how net neutrality is something we should appreciate, not fight.
In addition, net neutrality saves us people from going insane in my mind. If the internet was controlled, it would feel like we were living in a society of dominants and peasants. The government already has a tight grip on us, and if large internet and cable providers were able to have the same grip with our internet, people would be outraged and furious. My personal thoughts are, if net neutrality is abolished, noone will want to pay for internet access, although we need it for everyday usage. In the below video, it explains the outcomes if large companies were to buy out others, or make financial agreements to block certain things, or make a website unavailable. I feel that net neutrality is something that cannot be messed with, seeing as everyone has their own thing to do in their lives.
